You've rewritten the chapter. Moved the scenes around. Gotten feedback. Read the craft books. Tried putting it away and coming back with fresh eyes.

Maybe you know something isn't working, but you can't figure out what. Maybe you know exactly what's wrong, but you don't know how to fix it. Maybe you've gotten so much feedback that you no longer know which direction is yours. Or maybe you've simply been inside the work for so long that you can't see it clearly anymore.

Revision Rescue is a focused, one-on-one manuscript session designed to help you understand what's happening in your work, uncover possibilities you may not be able to see from inside it, and find your way toward the next draft.
This isn't a developmental edit. You won't receive an exhaustive list of everything that's wrong with your manuscript.
Instead, we'll slow down at the place where you're stuck and look at it together. We'll explore what's happening on the page, what you're trying to make, what you've already tried, where the energy is—and where it isn't. I'll bring an experienced outside eye, ask questions, notice patterns, offer possibilities, and help you distinguish the problem you're seeing from the problem underneath it.
You won't leave with an overwhelming list of everything you could possibly change.
You'll leave with a way forward.

Show Me Where You're Stuck
Before we meet, you'll send me up to 20 pages from your work-in-progress, along with a short intake telling me about the project and where you're getting stuck.
These don't have to be your first 20 pages. Send me the pages where the problem lives.
If you're wrestling with a larger structural question, you can send an outline or synopsis along with selected pages instead.

We'll spend 90 minutes exploring the problem and your approach.
This is a conversation, not a prescription. My job isn't to tell you what your book should become. It's to help you see your work more clearly, discover what's possible, and make choices that belong to you and the work you're trying to create.
We will follow what is most useful to you in the conversation.

Revision Rescue is designed for writers who already have a work-in-progress and have reached a place where they aren't sure how to move forward.

In fact, figuring out what the problem actually is may be some of the most important work we do.
You don't need another rule or formula for writing your book. There are plenty of those already. What you may need is another mind beside yours for a little while: someone who can look closely, listen carefully, ask different questions, notice what you can't see from where you're standing, and help you find your own way forward.
